Join the Tidewater Burn Support Group Meeting
The recovery process, from burn victim to burn survivor is greatly enhanced through community and we, at the Tidewater Burn Survivors, understand this. Prior to 2012, there was no burn support group in the tidewater region including the cities of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Hampton, Newport News, and surrounding cities. This is why we, with incredible support from Sentara, formed the Tidewater Burn Survivors support group in 2012. Right away, we realized the importance of support from individuals who are familiar your struggles and care about you.
In 2014, sponsored by Sentara, we attended our first Phoenix World Burn Congress and met so many other burn survivors, who do not have access to a burn support group. We made connections with burn survivors from all over the world and then realized that we had an opportunity to grow our community, to help even more burn victims on their journey to burn survivors. To this end, we decided to start using an online live web meeting, so that anyone with an internet connection, web cam, and a microphone could have join our burn support group. Sentara graciously stepped up and provided the WebEx technology at our very next meeting. Immediately it was a success, not only for people in remote areas locally and all over the USA, but internationally too!
The Tidewater Burn Survivors burn support group is free to burn survivors, families, Sentara volunteers, and a chaplain. Please join us in person at our monthly meetings or virtually through our online live burn support meetings.
